2012 SUMMER MISSION TRIP

At the end of the summer of 2009 I asked Bishop and Mrs Davis if they would like to be a part in taking some young people on a foreign mission trip for the summer of 2011.  Bishop said, “Get Jennifer to take you where she has been working in Honduras.  They are doing some pretty remarkable ministry there.”  Well we did - and it was awesome, so we are going to do it again!

This past fall Ken Hundley and David Sparks joined Jennifer Davis to visit Rancho Paraiso and see the work of Honduras Outreach Incorporated firsthand.  While there we met a staff that is professional and dedicated, but above all loves the Lord and the people of Honduras.  It was a great pleasure to visit three graduations while visiting in Honduras.  A kindergarten graduation, where the students enjoyed working with us on our Spanish of numbers and colors.  An elementary graduation in the Aldersgate school that Mrs Davis helped build 10 years ago.  When Mrs Davis shared the story of Aldersgate they named the school in Spanish, “Door of New Beginnings.”  And a graduation of 22 pastors who had completed two years of studies to become better pastors in their villages.  We also visited in three different villages the people we will work with this summer and beyond.

Our work will include some Vacation Bible School, some help in the clinic associated with the ranch, and working with the village assigned to us to: build concrete floors, build up some latrine walls, and build some chimneys that provide for cooking and heat.  Additionally we will participate in some community sport activities, and possibly help in the seed garden or tilapia pond.

Our original goal is to have two young people aged 16-22 from each of the 12 districts in the KY Conference.  We are starting with a two year initial commitment to HOI and the village in which we are working, so we can build relationships that will have lasting impact.

Come join us on a life-changing experience as we have a Bluegrass Conspiracy to Love Honduras.
