A few quick things…

We had an incredible time at Winter Blitz 2012! We have all the videos, links and other stuff that we can think of for now up on the website at www.winterblitz.org (we will be posting more!) Be sure to go over and check that out. And be sure to help us plan next year by giving an evaluation of 2012… Invite all the people who came with you to fill out that evaluation over the next couple of weeks, we take seriously what we hear in making this event better next year. The evaluation can be found at the bottom of the page at www.winterblitz.org.

This month’s poll at www.theflame.info... “When does spring start in your mind?”

Next month’s poll question will be, “What was your favorite Super Bowl Commercial for 2012?”

Pretty pumped about our new event A Morning with Bishop Davis and Confirmation Students. Registration deadline is March 5 and you can register, find more info, or have young people submit questions at www.kyumc.org/confirmation. Bring your young people in confirmation now, last year, next year, whenever… but don’t miss this great opportunity for your young people to learn a little more about the United Methodist Connection.

We are putting together a conference youth rallylike we haven’t had in quite some time! With Annual Conference kicking off on a Monday morning this year, we are preparing the stage and getting the Annual Conference site ready for a rockin’ good time on Sunday, June 10 at 5:30 pm.

Official Release/Announcement:

Imagine No Malaria Youth Rally

We are kicking off Annual Conference 2012 with a Conference Youth Rally on Sunday, June 10 at 5:30 pm in the Northern Kentucky Convention Center, site of Annual Conference. Featuring music, media, speakers, and kazoos… we are excited to introduce our young people to “holy conferencing” at the site where we will host Annual Conference through the early part of the week. The Youth Rally will focus on challenging/rallying each young person to “Imagine No Malaria” as we partner with this effort of The United Methodist Church (more info at www.imaginenomalaria.org). The youth rally is being scheduled for an hour and half and we encourage groups to make “the trip” as much fun as the arrival. As it comes together we will continue to post updates to our webpage at www.theflame.info and there you will find a registration button for your best guess at how many persons might be attending. Also on that page will be suggestions of other fun activities in the Cincinnati area, and a link to donate if you cannot attend the youth rally in person. Mark your calendars and make plans to attend this life changing event for those young people in The Kentucky Conference and in Africa!

ICHTHUS 2012

Celebrating 26 great years of ministry with the New Song Music Festival we are excited and pleased to announce a new opportunity for Christian Music Fans to unite in worship and fellowship!  The Kentucky Conference Ministry with Young People has an exciting new partnership with Ichthus Ministries in 2012!  Ichthus is an event and media ministry based in Wilmore KY, that has its roots in many ways in the United Methodist Church.  Most notably, the Ichthus Music Festival draws 18,000-20,000 people each year to its “farm” in Wilmore with four days of music, media, and high-impact ministry!  It includes six stages (that run simultaneously), more than 150 artists, 20 speakers, a Global missions village, skate park, youth tents, parent tents, a coffeehouse, food and merch vendors, camping, dorm housing, and a lot more.

The Kentucky Conference of the United Methodist Church is adding the
Ichthus Festival June 20-23 (www.ichthusfestival.org), as one of our events for 2012.  We’ll be gathering as a group several times during the larger event, and we’re offering a special Ichthus Festival package for Kentucky Conference UM churches & those that attend Winter Blitz.  It will include some opportunities for you to more fully and uniquely experience the festival... and save money.

Our package includes:

  • Discounted ticket prices
  • Several free youth leader/sponsor tickets (with the purchase of group tickets)
  • Special gathering times with other KYUMC churches at Ichthus Festival
  • Prime camping space in the Ichthus premium camping area with other KYUMC churches
  • Exclusive artist/speaker meet & greets
  • Youth leader access to the Ministry Partner Tent and backstage tours
